Hi, I'm Jon ...

I’ve always been passionate about music and audio production. As a BSc student studying Entertainment Technologies at the University of Portsmouth, I not only learned my way around an audio editing suite and how to compose soundtracks, but I was also introduced to the joys of performing opera through a production of H.M.S. Pinafore

Since then, I have appeared in dozens of stage productions across the Southwest, playing roles including the Pirate King in The Pirates of Penzance, Papageno in Mozart’s Magic Flute, Escamillo (a.k.a. the Toreador) in Bizet’s Carmen, and the Journalist in Jeff Wayne’s prog-rock extravaganza, War of the Worlds.

Working with groups such as White Horse Opera, Bristol Opera, and the Invitation Theatre Company has allowed me to develop my vocal range and acting ability, all of which I use to bring characters to life through voiceover and song.

A rich baritone voice for music or voiceovers

My voice has been described as rich, smooth, and lyrical, with one client calling it “chocolate for the ears”. Using nearly two decades of experience in the world of stage and screen, I help to …

  • Make audio easy. Whether you need a podcast or e-learning course edited, lyrics written or proofread, or a script narrated and synced to a PowerPoint presentation, I aim to remove the pain from the audio development and creation process.
  • Make audio fun. Recordings don’t have to be dull! Audio is an incredibly versatile medium that let’s me layer up sounds, music, and voice to create just the right impact.
  • Make audio that is uniquely yours. I love to put my clients in the driver’s seat; how can I bring your ideas to life? From creating custom songs and lyrics to mark your event or promote a product, to providing multiple vocal takes to communicate your message the way you want it.

Recording Studio

In my studio, I use a professional AKG C214 large diaphragm condenser microphone with pop shield that is connected through a Scarlett 2i2 USB interface to my computer.

I can provide almost any file type needed for your project; just let me know what you prefer.

Not sure what you need?  I can provide files in the most common audio formats that can then be easily converted as required.

My Clients

One of the things I love about voice work is being able to develop projects with people who are just down the street or around the world. Wherever you’re located, I can almost guarantee that I have an audio service for you!

Behind the Scenes

In addition to operas, musicals, and the occasional play, you can also spot me as an extra in films such as Emma, The Current WarHellboy, and Born a King, and television programmes including Sanditon, Poldark, The Crown, The Trials of Christine Keeler, and a Doctor Who Christmas special.

Lockdown Duets

With performances cancelled due to the pandemic, I joined in with friends to produce a series of Lockdown Duets as well as bring some festive cheer to clients. These are a few of my favourites.

Doing voice work is also great because you don’t have to get your hair done.
